Beware of Crazy Talk During This Campaign Season
Some candidates say the darndest things.
One Republican incumbent from Collier County distributed a newsletter recently in which she warned her supporters that Democrats are “well-funded and committed to launch their socialist agenda in southwest Florida.”
Well, I’m not a socialist, and I’m not as well funded as my multi-millionaire opponent (although you will find a DONATE button below to help with that problem).
She went on to say that electing a Democrat like me could lead to “open borders, sanctuary cities, and yes–even a state income tax!”
That’s crazy talk.
Nobody but her is talking about a state income tax. Come on. Can you imagine a candidate for public office even whispering such a thing?
Sanctuary cities? Not part of my platform.
Open borders? Please. This is Florida. We’re surrounded by water. What does she want to do? Build a wall?
This is pandering at its worst. You’re smarter than that. And that’s what she’s afraid of.
Republicans have brought us a toxic algae outbreak through their mismanagement of the environment, they’ve tried to privatize our beaches, they’ve sold their souls to special interests.
It’s time for a change.
I spend my days in the woods as a wildlife ecologist. One of my jobs is to get rid of invasive species. It’s time to get rid of the species of politicians who have been invading government in Tallahassee. You deserve a state Senator who listens to you and represents your interests, someone focused on serious issues such as the environment, community safety, affordable workforce housing, quality healthcare and first-rate public education.
And that’s what I’m fighting for.
