Annisa Endorsed by the South Florida Clean Water Movement
During a wide-ranging interview on a wind-swept Fort Myers Beach, Florida Senate Candidate Annisa Karim received the endorsement of John G. Heim of the South Florida Clean Water Management Movement.
As part of his Moment of Truth Tour, Heim met with Annisa for a live Facebook broadcast to discuss water quality issues ranging from the scourge of toxic algae pouring into our rivers from Lake Okeechobee, to the prolonged Red Tide outbreak that is killing wildlife in staggering numbers, to the political solutions that will be necessary to fix these problems.
Heim is at the forefront of the state’s water quality movement with thousands of Facebook followers. Annisa is a wildlife ecologist with a master of science degree from the University of Florida who is running for Senate in District 28, which includes all of Collier and Hendry counties and portions of southeastern Lee County.
Breaking with his self-imposed rule, Heim at the conclusion of the broadcast told Annisa that he was endorsing her candidacy and encouraging his followers to vote for her.
“I am honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of John G. Heim of the South Florida Clean Water Movement,” Annisa posted on her Facebook page. “We know that in Florida, the environment is the economy!”
She further said:
“Let’s be clear. The state is responsible for water quality standards. The crisis we are experiencing now has been years in the making. We can’t continue to elect the same people and expect a different result. It’s time to elect people with the political will to fight for you, your business, your health, and your quality of life. It’s time for a change in Tallahassee!”
